Product Description
Designed for kids ages 3-5, the mini is the quality choice in children's scooters. In 2009, the mini was recognized by the prestigious Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, which awarded it the Gold and the Platinum Best Toy Award Seals. The mini also was named 'Best Pre-School Scooter' by Toy Report. What makes the mini fun and unique is its 'lean-and-steer' design which allows children to use their body weight to control the steering, giving kids the feeling of 'surfing' the sidewalk, as they curve from right to left, almost like a skateboard. The lean-and-steer adds an element of fun and control that young children love. The mini's 3 wheels provide greater stability. The wheels are Italian-made of highest quality PU, which creates a wonderfully smooth glide. The wheels also make for a quiet ride, a joy for parents and children alike and since they don't leave black marks on the floor, the mini can be ridden inside. The kickboard is low-to-the-ground and large enough for both feet, making it easy for young children to hop on and off and to switch from pushing, to just enjoying the ride. The 'spoon' brake at the back adds additional control, and kids like it because its just like the 'big kid' scooters. For parents, the mini scooter's light weight (only 3.3lbs), means it's easy to pick up and carry when need be. The mini scooter helps young children to develop their balance, co-ordination and motor skills. The mini scooter is designed with a weight recommendation of 60lbs. Please note that the scooter displays a weight limit of 20kg (44 lbs). The reason for the discrepancy is that European standards dictate that weights are approved in increments of 10 kg (22lbs), so the next available weight category of 30 kg, or 66 lbs, would have put the displayed recommended weight limit OVER its actual recommendation of 60 lbs. The mini is a great mode of mobility for young kids! Available in blue, pink, orange and aqua.

5 out of 5 stars Fun, durable little toy that will last through several kids   March 11, 2010
Duke Girl 711 (San Diego)
My 3-year old received this scooter for Christmas, and she has been using it for several months now. When she first started riding, she was a little tentative and I think Santa may have had some "buyer's remorse" due to the fact that the mini-kick isn't "steerable". Instead, she has to use her weight to turn. And it took a few tries to figure it out. Now, however, she rides like a pro and has the weight-shifting aspect down. The scooter absolutely glides thanks to the wheels, and she just loves to use it. Because she does have to shift her weight to steer, I think it might make it easier for her to pick up other activities that rely on balance (biking, skate boarding if she desires, etc). Time will tell about that. In the meantime, it's providing her with much outdoor entertainment. And thanks to its light weight, it's no problem for me to carry the scooter on those days when she decides she doesn't want to ride it home (which happens with toddlers from time to time.) Regarding the height, my daughter is very tall for her age (over 39") and the height of the scooter works out well for her. One of her friends is shorter than she is, and the friend also can ride it pretty easily. Bottom line -- Santa chose well. Yes, it's more expensive than other scooters, but I think it gives you more bang for the buck in terms of sibling pass-downs, and you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality.

5 out of 5 stars Love this scooter   March 3, 2010

We bought this for my 3 and a half year old son for Christmas, so he's been using it for a little over 2 months now. He LOVES it, and frequently has to wrestle it away from his 6 and a half year old brother. They use it inside and out. It used to be a challenge to walk the half mile to school to collect my older son, but now we get there in 10 mins or less, with my 3 yo on the scooter! He loves to do "tricks", such as lifting one leg out to the side, or squatting while riding. He uses the brake, but if he needs to stop quickly he just hops right off. We often have people asking where we got it, although I am a bit embarrassed to tell them we paid so much!

5 out of 5 stars Great Scooter for smaller child   February 19, 2010
mom-n-stuff (Los Angeles)
My daughter who got this at about 4 loves this scooter. It's definitely a lot more expensive than many of the other brands out there. But well worth it for the safety and ease of use. She's had it six months and really enjoys it still.... I don't see her getting tired of it. Until she outgrows it.

5 out of 5 stars A superb toy worth every penny and then some   December 31, 2009

My mother got my 4 year old this scooter and my 22 month old the Radio Flyer 3 wheel scooter. First of all, after receiving the RadioFlyer one, I can say it will be the LAST RF toy I ever buy!!! Garbage garbage garbage. I had debated buying that same one for my 4 year old after the reviews and was amazed it received such good reviews. Thanks to the anonymous review who recommended the kick scooter while I was reading reviews of the RF scooter. First of all, the two can't be compared, not unless you're comparing a rusty bike with a cannondale. One glides like silk, the other requires a lot of strength that my 22month old doesn't have. In order to steer the kick scooter, my 4 year old only has to lean his body to the side just a bit. In order to steer the RF, my younger son has to grab both handles and firmly rotate the handles. He lacks the upper body strength and even when I'm leaning over helping him, it's a nuisance because when it does rotate, the turning radius is a joke. For right now, my younger son understands the concept of one foot on the base of the scooter and using the other foot for pushing off. He just can't execute it because as soon as he puts weight on the RF, it stops. Plus the handle bar is 2 or 3 inches higher than the Kick Scooter Handle bars. It's a big difference. He can't both hold onto the handle and lean down to push off with the other foot. My 22mo old is 31 inches. My 4 year old is 41 inches. When my younger son plays on the Kick scooter, he can do the "glide and push" method very easily. He doesn't quite have the balance to completely control the leaning and balance to stay on it but it's so easy to use that I can see him mastering it in a few months. My 4 year old mastered the kick within 30 minutes. Plus the wheels on this baby are huge but in a good way. You can tell it's made just the rubber roller blade wheels while the RF is just plastic wheels. In a few months, I will be selling the RF and buying a Kick for my younger son. On a side note, my flooring in my house is all tile. My older son doesn't even walk anymore. He uses his kick to glide from room to room. It's so tiny and thin that you hardly notice it while the RF is pretty bulky.

5 out of 5 stars Best design with two wheels up front!   December 30, 2009
tatabutton (Gurnee, IL USA)
My 4 year old son really wanted a scooter after seeing the one our neighbors had. They had a razor scooter with two wheels in the back. My son had a hard time balancing on it well, but he still told everyone he saw that this is what he wanted Santa to bring him. I must say this toy deserves all the awards it has received! The design of two wheels up front is brillant! He could balance on it right away, which obviously makes it way more fun for him. This scooter also stays standing when you step off of it and let go. Our neighbors razor scooter with two wheels in the back falls over right away. The price was a bit high, but I'd rather spend this much and get a quality product!
