| Customer Reviews:
Fun, but expensive add-on's February 28, 2010 Cooking Mama (Minnesota) Yes, the download process was timely and complicated as others have indicated.
After it was set up, though, I havent had problems with my computer crashing as others have said. It does require some computer power, so perhaps the others didnt have a fast enough computer processer to keep up with Dora Links.
My daughter is 7 years old. Loved the toy from the get-go & was a bit freaked (in a happy way) when Dora started talking to her about what she was doing on the computer. The doll is interactive, so you have to wait for the changes to be updated when you are done playing. Dora says different things offline after or in the process of solving mysteries.
My daughter has completed all of the mysteries and has started on some of them a second time. The ones she had problems with the first time, she some times has problems on it again. So I think she is barely old enough to "get" the mysteries since she often asks for help on what she is supposed to do.
The downside of this toy is there are sooooo many LOCKED functions and when you click on those locks, it essentially tells you to buy more stuff to unlock it. Geeze... that can get pretty spendy at $20 a doll (not to mention the initial $50 investment for Dora). I have been encouraging her to spend her birthday money if she wants to buy more accessories or mysteries. So far, the extras are too expensive in her mind.
Also note, it appears that the codes are only good for one download, so if you have multiple computers or if you plan to pass the toy onto a cousin or friend, it does not appear it will work on a 2nd computer.
Overall, I am glad the grandparents bought it for her. She can plan her money management on the extras if she decides to further her Dora World.
Mattel Dora Links Doll February 8, 2010 S. Berry (Shreveport, LA) Bought for my granddaughter for Christmas. She has enjoyed using it on her computer...
My daughter loves it February 8, 2010 Catherine Levesque (NH USA) Got this for Christmas and my daughter loves to play the online games. Make sure you download the software before you give it as a gift, take a long time to get set-up.
