we really liked this place mat. my children like to point out their ABC's to me while we are sitting to eat.

Design scratches off over time March 14, 2007

I am now on my second set of placemats. The first ones I used on a hardwood surface and within a few weeks my children (2 and 4 years) scratched off almost half of the picture just from moving and rubbing them against the table when eating. There is no backing to protect the underside of the drawing, you can use your nail to scratch it off. My kids love them though and they are the only backyardigans one I can find, so I bought two more and made sure to use them over a table cloth. They are holding up a little better, but I still have to be careful when washing them and storing them.
